Following
the launching of the new album, Ad Infinitum, in the summer
2005, flutist François Richard and his quartet proposed
a concert where the public would have the pleasure to hear
the repertory of their most recent opus as well as some
new pieces. An eclectic and original jazz. The Quartet has
the pleasure to invite you to one of his refined musical
gathering!
Counting
among the rare jazz flutists of high caliber in Canada,
François Richard is making a come back on record
with Ad Infinitum, strong with seven years of research,
exploration, concerts and tours. As in the Coïncidence
appearance in 1998, the work of François Richard
is once more praised by jazz critics all over North America.
The
rare local gem of a flutist is accompanied on stage, for
Ad Infinitum concert, by
Geoff Lapp (piano), Frédéric Alarie (double
bass) and Michel Lambert (drums).
Worth
noting that François Richard, flutist, pianist
and composer has inherited from a solid background. In
his early twenties, he founded L'Orchestre Sympathique.
This group, acclaimed by the critics, has made several
international tours, as well as three albums. With L'OS,
he had the privilege to share the stage with renowned
jazz artists such as Oscar Peterson and Freddie
Hubbard. In December 2004, François Richard
was guest soloist for the concert of Brazilian guitarist
and composer
Selsco Machado. Later he conducted several jazz, fusion
and Latin ensembles, with some musicians from the Metropole.
He participated several times in Festival International
de Jazz de Montréal with his ensemble and OFF Festival
2003. Along his career he was the recipient of grants
from CALQ and CAC. François Richard Quartet has
produced himself in many occasions at FIMJ, Jazz Beat
and Silence on Jazz in Radio-Canada.
